World Junior Javelin Champion Achieves Best Distance
Pienaar, a student at Potchefstroom University, recorded a personal best distance of 80.77 meters, while Corbett, who missed last year's Olympics after injury stopped him meeting the national qualifying standard, finished third with 75.40 meters.
Englishman Mark Roberson was second after throwing 78.17.
In the men's hammer, Frenchman David Chaussinand achieved 78.80 meters with his fourth throw to beat South African Chris Harmse, the Commonwealth record holder, with 76.89 meters.
Hungary's Zsolt Nemeth, who regularly trains in Potchefstroom at the start of the year, was third with 76.48 meters.
Jo Wise of England came out on top in the women's long jump, reaching 6.35 meters with both her first and third attempts.
In the men's 400 meters, South African Olympic finalist Hendrick Mokganyetsi, running his first race of the season, impressed with a winning time of 44.90 seconds to beat compatriot Marcus la Grange by half-a-second.
